Virtual Recall

The future of education, brought to you by Positively MAD, inspiring empowered learning since 2000.

Description

During this workshop, students will be transported on a guided journey through their brain.
They will learn why it works the way it does, the chemical processes which occur and how important it is to adopt
a growth mindset.
Providing students with an overview of how learning impacts the brain along with a range of effective learning techniques will improve comprehension, memory and recall and boost enthusiasm for learning.

Benefits

Though our workshops are high impact and high energy, sometimes students need to experience learning in different way. By engaging students creativity and offering an innovative approach to learning, we hope to celebrate students uniqueness and prove that learning really can be fun.
Our Virtual Reality workshop is unique as it does not simply ask the student to view a video. It allows the presenter to take students on a guiding learning tour which is both interactive and engaging.

Content

During the programme, students will:

Students will learn practical techniques to help them memorise and absorb information quickly.

They will also be transported into their brain with VR to see why their brain works so effectively, this will allow them to link what they have learnt to the different areas of their mind.

Students will experience a 360° vision of their brain and neurones

Students will be able to understand why their brain releases certain emotional responses and how the brain works quickly or slowly dependant on mindset and mood.

Aims

To engage with the ultra-connected Generation Z who are tech-savvy and less likely to be stimulated by a standard lesson. This workshop will engage students curiosity and allow them to become fully immersed in the multisensory learning experience.

We believe that by providing an alternative to a standard lesson, students will be interested to try something new and be inspired to believe that learning really can be fun.

Results

Currently, this workshop can be delivered to up to 24 students with a ratio of staff to students set at 1:8. This size of audience allows the hardest to reach students the opportunity to take part in an experience which will challenge their perceived ideas of learning.

"Jay’s enthusiasm, knowledge of the strategies, techniques and tips was excellent and was exactly what we were looking for at this time in Year 11 for our students and parents. It’s testament to Jay and the workshop as to how many pupils had told their parents about how much they enjoyed it and how useful they found it that some students were calling and texting their parents during the school day to say ‘Mum/Dad you need to come to the Parent’s workshop this evening!’ The strategies were relevant, easy to use, engaging and delivered in a way which will facilitate the students use of them as well. It was great to be given some resources by Jay in order to support the pupils through the revision process as the year goes on as well. I will look to rebook this event for next years, Year 11 at a similar time."
